Week 31

  Week 31 April 25-29 NWEA Math testing dates: April 26th and 27th Please be sure your child’s computer is charged! Field Trip Hurray!  We will be going to Sarett Nature Center on Thursday, April 28.  We will ride the bus.  If you would like to meet us there you are more than welcome to do so.  The cost for parents is $5.  This can be paid upon arrival at Sarett.  Animal Project Choice Boards will be sent home Monday.  Please review these together and help your child decide which projects he or she would like to complete. The idea of a due date is brand new to Firsties.  We will discuss this in class and talk about pacing.  Please help us reinforce this idea. 

Week 30

NWEA ELA testing dates: April 19, 20, 21 Math testing dates: April 26, 27, 28     I try hard to make this a nonthreatening experience.  However, it is important that the children take the testing seriously so that we get the best information possible.  Please discuss this with your child and encourage them to do their best.  Many will need to be reminded that it’s not a race! Week 29

  Week 29 April 11-15 Welcome back to the routine! We have so much yet to learn this year! Students will be very busy in our remaining 9 weeks together. Practice at Home In order to prepare your Firstie for the move to 2nd grade please be sure to spend time on the following every week: Nightly reading Addition and subtraction flashcards Lexia IXL or Moby RAZ kids, Storyline Online, or EPIC Journaling Animal Project First Graders will be VERY busy in the coming weeks researching an animal and creating a variety of projects to show their understanding of its physical characteristics, habitat, food sources, and predators.  Information will be coming home in your child’s Friday folder this week for your review and signature. While most of the research will be done at school, the projects will be completed at home.
