Week 8

  Week 8 October 25-29 Academic Updates Our Positivity Project theme this week is curiosity We will be doing our first reader’s theater of the year In math we continue to solve story problems using numbers within 10, finding the missing sum, relating addition to subtraction, and explaining the equal sign We will learn more decoding strategies with help from Eagle Eye and Lips the Fish We will focus on r blends this week (pr, br, tr, fr, cr, etc.) There will be a number of fun activities this week as we enjoy some Halloween fun  Ask Your Firstie about…. Where they store their belongings at school Forgiveness What is means to do whole body listening When to use a period Halloween Party Our classroom party will be Friday, October 29 from 1:20-2:05.  The school-wide parade will be at 3:15 outside on the blacktop/playground area. Please let me know if you are attending. Thank you to all the volunteers who are sending supplies!

Week 7

  Week 7 October 18-22 Academic Updates Our Positivity Project theme this week is forgiveness We will begin our study of blends as we kick off with L blends (flop, plot, black, glass) In math our focus will be on solving story problems using numbers within 10, finding the missing sum, relating addition to subtraction, and explaining the equal sign We will wrap up our study of character traits  Ask Your Firstie about…. Making Daily 5 choices Integrity The group plan and how they follow it When to use a capital letter Practice at Home Students should read at home each night for at least 20 minutes.  Please check your child’s Friday folder for any incomplete work they could finish with you as well as some word lists they can be practicing. Halloween Party It’s that time! Halloween at Lincoln School is a fun time.  Costumes are optional, but most children do wear them.  We wear them ALL day, so please make sure your child is wearing something they can sit and move about in easily.  Please

  Week 6 October 4-8 Parent-Teacher Conferences I believe I have confirmed a conference time for each family.  I am very excited to meet with you.  I will email you a reminder the day prior to our scheduled meeting time.  If you selected the option to meet virtually I will send you a link in my reminder email. Halloween Party It’s that time! Halloween at Lincoln School is a fun time.  Costumes are optional, but most children do wear them.  We wear them ALL day, so please make sure your child is wearing something they can sit and move about in easily.  Please refrain from sending any large prop pieces.  For example, an inflatable dragon costume, or Poseiden with a trident would be hard to manage for 7+ hours! Many children choose a scaled down version of their trick-or-treat attire. Week 5

  Week 5 October 4-8 THANK YOU for making Laps for Lincoln a HUGE success.  Every child participated in displaying the Bear Necessities of respect, responsibility, and safety. We also raised money to continue the great things we are able to do through our PTO. Lincoln School is an amazing place and I am so proud to be a part of it with you! Academic Updates Fun days this week: M&M Monday and National Octopus day on Friday We will be studying th, wh, and ph digraphs Our focus in language will be inside/outside character traits The Positivity Project ideas of the week: being present and giving others my attention In math we will be using the mathematical terms sum and difference, as well as naming and using strategies for addition and subtraction Computers As you know, students brought their Chromebooks home on Friday.  We have much more learning to do in terms of how we use them in our grade level.
