I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year!  Please know that it is important to me that every Firstie enjoys coming to school each day and learning new things.  I'm sure you have a million questions about what to expect.  Please see answers to some frequently asked questions below. Birthday Treats

If your child has a birthday during this school year, they are welcome to send in a prepackaged birthday treat to share with our class. We typically celebrate summer birthdays in June, but occasionally parents request to bring something on a half birthday instead.

Communication

Blog/Folder/Email

Mr. Hubble will send a weekly blog post each week with a link to my blog.  Please be sure to check this. I will include news of upcoming events and details about what we're learning in the classroom. The blog will be your primary news-getting source.  Each night your child will bring home a folder containing any work samples, notes, or additional communication from the school.  Please return this folder each morning. Email is the best way to reach me, but you are also welcome to send a note or call the school.  My email address is ereimers@stjoebears.com


Water and Snacks

Please send two healthy snacks for your child each day as well as a water bottle. Please do not send candy or soda.  I do have treats on occasion for the children. If your child has an allergy or sensitivity please be sure to communicate that to the office and to me directly.

I will provide pencil boxes, pencils, crayons, and really pretty much everything else.  If you'd like to provide colored pencils and/or markers for your child they can be kept in the pencil boxes as well.

Volunteers

I am thrilled to be able to welcome parent volunteers again this year! I will have more information about this at our Back to School Night.


Masks

Yes, we will be wearing masks all day.  There will be opportunities for breaks.  Please have your child keep extra masks in his or her backpack--they can get pretty gross throughout the day.


Sickness

Please monitor your child and be diligent about keeping him/her home when warranted by symptoms. 


Recess

We will have recess three times each day as long as it's not raining, storming, or below 10 degrees. We will also take walks, and head outside to read as much as possible.

Week 11 and 12

  Weeks 11 and 12 November 15-23 *Friday, November 19 is a half day. *There is no school November 24-26 in celebration of Thanksgiving. Academic Updates Our Positivity Project theme is gratitude Students will be writing some fun pieces to demonstrate their understanding of sequencing In math we will be working on addition and subtraction fluency within 10 and using strategies to add and subtract within 20 We will focus on ending blends and consonant clusters In our Spinning Sky unit we will be learning about the moon and its phases We will do some fun things for National Disney Day this week Homework Please check your child’s Friday folder and return the writing assignment. Additionally, please be sure your child is reading for at least 20 minutes each day.
